The Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) faces exactly the same challenges as our own Lodge Charity Stewards.
During October as the MCF Provincial Representatives I accompanied W.Bro. Reuben Ayres our Provincial Grand Charity Steward to Nottingham to attend the MCF Metropolitan and Provincial Grand Charity Stewards Conference 2019.
It was evident that the MCF has the greatest respect for our Lodge Charity Stewards and they understand that they face exactly the same challenges.
Like our Lodge Charity Account the MCF is our “Local Charity” which provides Devonshire Masons help and assistance in all areas of need. Together we build better lives by encouraging opportunity, promoting independence and improving wellbeing for Freemasons, their families and the wider community.
Some of the specifics for our Charity Stewards and MCF roles are:
- Raising and collecting funds
- Administering funds and keeping them safe
- Distributing authorised funds
- Encouraging Brethren to give time and effort
The areas of support available from the MCF are:
- Help families make ends meet when times get tough
- Give greater independence to people with disabilities
- Gives young people the opportunity to succeed in their education
- Provide high-quality care for older, disabled or seriously ill people
- Fund life-saving and life-changing medical care
- Tackles social isolation and loneliness
- Advances ground-breaking medical research
- Responds to natural disasters around the world
