Unsolicited candidates are those that do not know a Freemason and they apply to find out more about joining either through UGLE or PGL websites, or the National Digital Marketing Campaign (NDMC),targeted through social media.
The Devonshire process for addressing unsolicited candidates has helped to create wider bonds of friendship and greater levels of visiting between lodges. It is also recognised as current best practice by UGLE.
Wednesday the 4th of January saw 3 Entered Apprentices (1 from The Lodge of Benevolence No.303 Teignmouth, and 2 from The Davie Lodge No.3721 Exeter) visit the Lodge of Perseverance No.164 in Sidmouth to support their now close friend Bro Crook during his initiation. They were escorted by W.Bro Glen Weaver and Bro Karl Rowlands of the Membership Team, making an additional 5 visitors to the lodge for the evening.
The above-mentioned lodges have all adopted The Members’ Pathway and agreed to follow the Membership Team process and are now all enjoying increased visiting. The newer brethren are benefiting from seeing other lodges and different rituals, while the Province is benefiting from strong bonds within its membership, bonds that will undoubtedly lead to longer and more enjoyable membership of the Craft.
The adoption of Pathway is of course optional, as is requesting the unsolicited candidates, but we hope the example of this and other recent visits will continue to show the added benefits of adopting these processes.
