Companions several months ago I posted a request for your assistance in providing me with nominations of local charities who could be helped with our assistance. Without these applications I wouldn’t be able to keep you all informed as to where your charitable donations have been distributed.
To date we have received numerous applications which have resulted in the MEGS giving away a fantastic sum this year of over £19000. This has been achieved through your Chapter’s generosity and we really cannot thank you enough for your continued support. I don’t wish to give out individual sums donated to charitable organisations or names of any companions who may or may not have requested emergency support but below is some of the charities that you have helped.
Special Needs School Torbay, Erme Valley Riding for the Disabled, Adam Stanfield Support Foundation Bowel Cancer, Bosom Palls, St Lukes Hospice, Little Thing Angels Clothes, East Worlington Community Hub, First Devon & Exeter Prostate Cancer Fund, Walking aid for an 8yr old child, Neuro Fibrosis, Yes to Life, West Devon Open Group, Teddies Appeal, Mark Festival, MTSFC (Masonic Fishing Charity), NICU Derriford, Downsouth, Exeter Catherdral Music Foundation Trust.
On another note during several visits to chapters that I have been attending recently I have on occasions interrupted proceedings when a chapter is making a proposal about a local charitably donation, especially if it’s something that stands out. One of these was a special charity that attracted my attention and tugged at my heart strings along with many others on the night. Little Things Angle Clothes is a charity providing clothing for babies born sleeping who are too small for standard baby Clothes. The charity supplies clothes and distributes across the country so that every child is dressed with dignity as some are so small that purchased clothing is too large. They have a small band of helpers which have been recognised nationally and locally so your contribution has helped them enormously. They have built a garden of remembrance for those Little Angels at Derriford Hospital so that parents can leave a pebble in memory of their loved baby. Consequently your charitable donations and the sponsoring chapter will at least make a slight difference in helping those very unfortunate parents and band of fantastic helpers.
