Sixty members and guests attended the recent installation meeting of Courtland Lodge 6706 and what a superb and unique evening it was.
It was very much a family affair and quite unusual as Bro. Nathan Bird presented his Father W. Bro. David Bird to the Worshipful Master as the Master Elect, Nathan also presented his father with the second-degree working tools and then once enthroned as Worshipful master David Bird invested his son as the inner guard for the ensuing year.
W. Bro. David Bird was installed into the chair of King Solomon in fine fashion by W. Bro. Steve Almond after which David invested a strong team of officers, again an unusual event as all the officers were light blues which bodes well for the future of the lodge, add to this the fact that the lodge then proposed two candidates for initiation, adding to the two that were proposed the previous month, Courtland lodge really is going from strength to strength.
During the evening, with a strong Provincial team in attendance which included three Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, the lodge presented a cheque to the presiding officer for £1350 for the MCF 2023 Festival fund. The ceremony was followed by a superb festive board after which everybody returned safely to their homes knowing they had witnessed a superb and unusual evening.
