On June 22nd, The St. Andrews Lodge under the Mastership of W. Bro. Albert Prangnell, held a meeting attended by many of the Devonshire Executive, Grand Officers and Active Provincial Grand Officers. All were there to witness The Provincial Grand Master, R. W. Bro Ian Kingsbury and his Senior Warden W. Bro. Robert Syme and acting Junior Warden W. Bro. Robert Woods together with the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies W. Bro. Keith Williams and The Provincial Grand Chaplin W. Bro. Adrian Rogers conduct the ceremony of dedication of their new banner in a manner which will be remembered and cherished by all those present.

The blessing,

“Great Architect to thee we rise, with joy our grateful songs of praise, our brethren ‘neath this banner bless, and crown our labours with success. May peace be with us evermore and love extend from shore to shore. May we in harmony combine and let, Most High, the praise be thine”

…was deemed very appropriate for the occasion.

The design of the new banner depicts “the Martyrdom of St. Andrew” which also appears on the Lodge Summons and Past Masters Jewel.

Special thanks were expressed to three members of the lodge without whose enthusiasm and perseverance this historic event would not have taken place W. Bro. Graeme Statton, W. Bro. Peter Morgan and W. Bro. John Keeling.

Now come up to more recent times and on 26th October W. Bro. Prangnell, this time acting as the installing Master, with W. Bro. Craig Cox APGM presiding, installed W. Bro. Dr Robert Rew PPrJGW as their new Worshipful Master, in a superb manner, the working tools presented by Bro. David Harris & W. Bros. Stephen Alford and Chris Barrs were all flawless, the worshipful master then appointed and invested his officers in a lovely and friendly manner.

W. Bro. Dr Robert Rew moved to Devon many years ago and immediately became a joining member of The St. Andrews Lodge which then held meetings in Cullompton, but for personal and business reasons he had to wait for many years before being able to accept the position of Worshipful Master in the lodge that he holds in such high regard. He will make a wonderful master and will represent the lodge extremely well when he visits other lodges in the province which he is well known for doing.

One of the major changes was the appointment of a new Director of Ceremonies when Paul Edwards who had done a splendid job for seven years was re-appointed as Inner Guard so that he could start all over again. In his place W. Bro. John Keeling took up the challenge of becoming the new Director of Ceremonies and what gigantic boots he has to fill which I know he will do with his usual determination and enthusiasm.

Everybody present then retired to the refectory for a superb festive board.
