St. George’s Lodge No.112 could not let a request for help fall on deaf ears…
The Exeter Cathedral sound system is dreadful – the speakers are in the light fittings.
They also heard that the “loop for the deaf” has not been working for some time, as reported to them by W.Bro. Mark Richardson.
The Cathedral is planning is to spend about £70K to upgrade the system in the Nave. This is hugely expensive because of cabling issues and integration with the long-term sound system for the whole Cathedral. This will improve the Nave hearing greatly, especially for the hard of hearing and will also include restoring the working loop system for the deaf.
Knowing The Friends of the Cathedral are fully stretched, St George’s members made a small donation of £500 towards this worthy cause.
The cheque was accepted on behalf of the Cathedral by one of members who also happens to be a Lay Canon at the Cathedral, W.Bro Conrad Donaldson.
