One of the key values of Freemasonry is service to our community, and this is often done via charitable donations to local causes.

Lodges do this in a variety of ways, and Unity Lodge in Crediton has taken the initiative to make an evening of the event by inviting charities along to a special meeting.

7 worthy local causes were invited to the Masonic Hall in Crediton to talk about the work they do with the local community and to receive a total of £3,000 in donations.

This year the causes chosen by the lodge were:
  • Bow Community Primary School – A school in Crediton and the money was to support their SEND (Special Educational Needs or Disabilities) support for students at the school
  • Turning Tides – To provide support for their community allotment space including to improve access and amenities
  • Pippins Pre-School and Nursery – to help renovate their foyer area
  • Cadogan Court – To help provide support for elderly residents
  • Hospiscare – Helping to support those with life-limited illnesses in Devon
  • Bang Bang Boxing Gym – Helping to purchase new kit and equipment for training and participation in competitions
  • Age Concern – Helping to support the Meals on Wheels service in Crediton

It was a fantastic evening for all involved and really interesting to hear about all of the support our local community is getting as a result of these donations.

This annual event is fast becoming the highlight of the year for members of Unity Lodge in Crediton and we are so thankful to all of our members for allowing us to make these donations possible.
