Crediton Freemasons of Unity Lodge 1332 have proudly presented a donation of £550 in support of a remarkable young person from Mid-Devon Explorers as she works towards one of the highest honours in Scouting.
Rachel-Jane, a member of Mid-Devon Explorers, is currently fundraising for her participation in the Explorer Belt Award, a prestigious international challenge that encourages young people to develop independence, resilience, leadership, and a deeper understanding of the wider world.
In Summer 2026, Rachel-Jane will join six other young people aged 16-17 on a youth-led expedition to the Faroe Islands. As part of the experience, the group will carry out a research project examining how geographic isolation influences local culture and everyday life. The expedition will not only broaden their horizons academically and socially, but will also help each participant build valuable life skills through teamwork, self-reliance, problem-solving, and leadership in an unfamiliar environment.
The £550 contribution from Unity Lodge 1332 will go directly towards Rachel-Jane’s individual fundraising target, helping to meet the essential costs of the expedition and making it possible for her to take part in this exceptional opportunity.
