The Worshipful Master of St. Peter’s Lodge No. 1125, based in Tiverton, was pleased to present a cheque for £2,500 to Tiverton Town Ability Counts Football Club.
The club, based locally in Tiverton, supports people with disabilities through amateur sport, and provides services for people with disabilities in Devon. Its aims includes promoting community participation in healthy recreation in Tiverton but providing football facilities for adults and children with physical, sensory, mental health, or learning disabilities.
The club is part of a wider network of disability football opportunities in the county. Devon FA counts Tiverton Town Ability Counts FC among the grassroots disability football clubs, and it serves Mid Devon allowing adults and children to access football in a supportive local setting.
Tam Dudgen, who is one of the trustees of the football club, is also the Immediate Past Master of St. Peter’s Lodge and so chose the club as his chosen charity during his year as Worshipful Master. The £2,500 donation reflects the support given by members during that year and will help the club continue its work providing inclusive football for all.
Speaking about the presentation, Paul Holdsworth said “St. Peter’s Lodge is delighted to support Tiverton Town Ability Counts FC. The club gives people the chance to enjoy football, be part of a team, build confidence, and take part in sport in a welcoming and inclusive environment. We are very pleased that the Lodge has been able to contribute to such valuable work in our local community”.
The presentation was a proud moment for the Lodge, and a fitting recognition of Tam’s chosen charity during his year in the chair.
