Members of Lord Roborough Lodge No 5789 including the Master, Andrew Horton; Charity Steward Keith Baker; and Mentor/Membership Officer Jack Parnell, visited the Mustard Tree Macmillan Support Centre at Derriford Hospital to present a donation cheque of £2,100.
This significant donation has been made possible thanks to the generosity and participation of many brethren who joined in our events, namely the Christmas Meal and the Lodge’s Ladies Festival.
The Mustard Tree is a dedicated cancer-support centre based in Derriford Hospital, offering vital services to anyone affected by caner at any stage of that illness. Located on Level 3 of the hospital, it provides a comfortable and welcoming environment where patients, relatives, and carers can ask questions, access emotional and practical support.
By raising and presenting this donation, Lord Roborough Lodge is making a real different, supporting the centre’s ability to deliver these services and reinforcing the Lodge’s commitment to charitable and community-minded endeavours.
During the visit, Andrew Horton conveyed the thanks to all Lodge members and their partners who supported the events that raised the funds. The presentation not only represents a financial gesture, but also strengthens the ties between Freemasonry and our local health-care community. It is a reminder that our charitable efforts don’t just extend to the Masonic Hall, but reach right into the lives of many ordinary people facing difficult times.
The Lodge is looking forward to continuing its support for Mustard Tree and similar organisations. Brethren may wish to consider similar involvement with their local centres, including organising fundraising events, volunteering, or simply raising awareness of the great work these centres do.
