Ebrington Lodge No 1847 gained it’s warrant from The United Grand Lodge of England on 10th October 1879 and the Lodge was Consecrated on 6th January 1880 at the Ebrington Masonic Building, Hobart Street, Plymouth by the then Provincial Grand Master of Devonshire Right Worshipful Lord Ebrington and the Lodge proudly bears the family crest.
We are a friendly Lodge, we work hard at our ritual (common sense ritual), which we take extremely seriously under the directorship of our Director of Ceremonies, also enjoying camaraderie and banter at the Festive Board afterwards, we also like to mix socially.
We hold several social functions during the course of the year including our horse race night, skittles and not forgetting the popular Christmas Dinner and Carol Singing.
One of the main characteristics of Freemasonry is charity; The United Grand Lodge of England and The Provincial Grand Lodge of Devonshire donate millions of pounds to charity each year. The Brethren of Ebrington Lodge are no different, as well as contributions to both Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge, the passion and generosity of our members has also enabled many generous donations to various non-Masonic charities.
Funds are not only raised from raffles at Lodge meetings but also fundraising and social events throughout the year, these include Ladies Nights, Horse racing evenings, and Christmas Socials.
We are a small but friendly lodge that like to have fun and also work hard at our ritual. New members are always made welcome of all ages and abilities. The aim of Freemasonry is to help and support each other to become better members of a regularly organised society.
