The Worshipful Master of Duncombe Lodge No. 1486 W.Bro. James Rowland thanks W.Bro. Chris Bird (Provincial Grand Mentor) for his presentation on Mentoring and its relation to the Members’ Pathway at their March 2024 meeting.

The first part of the presentation considered the role of the Personal Mentor in supporting a Brother on his masonic journey. This is a very important role as we must keep the Brethren engaged with the life of the Lodge and help them understand our fraternity. It was stressed that as masons we are All mentors, and we should all help in this task and leave no Brother standing alone. The Lodge Mentor oversees the Mentoring process in the Lodge and the Provincial Mentoring Team provide the supporting documents and advice when called upon.

The second part considered how The Members’ Pathway contains a lot of practical information on the Mentoring process (i.e. Engagement) but also Lodge Planning, Attraction of new members and the Retreval of those who choose to leave. More information can be found at https://b.ugle.org.uk/membership/members-pathway.

After the presentation there was a lively discussion on Mentoring and the Members’ Pathway from which everybody took something away.

The Provincial Mentoring Team are willing to attend any Lodge and deliver a presentation on a night when a Lodge has no work to perform. Such presentations are The First Degree Tracing Board, Explanation of the First Degree King Solomons Temple and many others.

Should your Lodge wish to receive one of these presentations please contact W.Bro. Chris Bird mentoring@devonshirefreemasons.org.uk .
