The Installation meeting of Miles Coverdale Lodge No. 5069, which holds its Regular Meetings at the Masonic Centre in Courtland Road, Paignton, in the Province of Devonshire, was held as their tradition dictates at the prestigious Livermead House Hotel on the Sea Front in Torquay. The Meeting was made even more special this year by the attendance and unofficial visit of V. W. Bro. Adrian Marsh, Grand Secretary of U.G.L.E.
in attendance were Heads of three other Orders of the Province of Devonshire, namely from the Royal Arch, Most Excellent Grand Superintendent Christopher A. Roach, from the Order of Mark Master Masons, Rt. W. Bro. David C. Purdie (a member of Miles Coverdale Lodge) and from the Ancient and Accepted Rite Rose Croix, Inspector General, Michael T. Penny, who was also a Past Provincial Grand Master of the Craft in the Province of Devonshire, along with W. Bro. Jeffrey L. Attwood P.S.G.D. Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master.
Due to extreme and unforeseen circumstances caused by severe weather conditions, the Presiding Executive Officer, W. Bro. Charles R. Yelland P.S.G.D. Assistant Provincial Grand Master was sadly unable to attend. Rt. W. Bro. Michael T. Penny Past Provincial Grand Master graciously stepped into the breach, to preside over the ceremony.
The meeting was a great success, especially highlighted by the excellent Installation Ceremony worked by the Installing Master, W. Bro. Christopher Cload, who along with the other Installing Officers of the Lodge Installed he Master Elect Bro. James Eaton into the Chair of King Solomon. The Ceremony then continued with the same high standard of ritual by W. Bro. Eaton, Investing his Officers with full ritual, where appropriate. It was heartwarming to see the Working Tools in the three degrees delivered in an exemplary manner by younger members of the Lodge, Bro’s Marcin Kubiak, Darren Freeth and Jordan Houston. The usual addresses to the Worshipful Master, Wardens and Brethren were a finishing touch to the Ceremony.
There followed an excellent Festive Board, which I am sure was enjoyed by all who attended. There were a number of Grand Officers attending along with Twenty of the Active Provincial Officers of the year, who were there to represent the Province of Devonshire and support Miles Coverdale Lodge, something they endeavour to do for all the Lodges in the Province.
The Lodge would like to express its sincere gratitude to all who attended and to those who helped to ensure this Installation was a truly special occasion.
